IGT PlaySports Team Up with Maverick Casinos in Colorado

Renowned iGaming software developer IGT recently announced a multi-year contract with Maverick Gaming. And according to the agreement, all three Maverick casinos in Colorado will use IGT’s PlaySports sports betting platform.

As the deal materializes, Grand Z casino in Central City and Z Casino in Black Hawk will gain access to IGT’s turnkey iGaming solutions and user-friendly staff service kiosks. Maverick Gaming’s mobile sports betting app, Play Maverick Sports, will also benefit from the PlaySports platform’s dedicated Player Account Management system.

According to Justin Beltram, the Chief Operating Officer at Maverick Gaming, “Using IGT’s comprehensive PlaySports technology, Play Maverick Sports will be able to better engage with the players. Thus, helping us expand our portfolio with exceptional sports betting experiences at our casinos throughout Colorado”.

The announcement, however, did not include the timing of the rollout or the financial aspects of the deal. Commenting on the situation, Justin added, “The turnkey nature of IGT’s PlaySports platform and its proven track record of delivering positive experiences across channels were key reasons behind our decision to go with them as our sports betting partner. Maverick Gaming cannot wait to extend its gaming portfolio to punters across Colorado”.

IGT Expands US Portfolio

For IGT, this step is part of its grand scheme to expand the company’s portfolio across the US. The developers partnered with North Dakota’s Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians back in October to integrate its PlaySports platform with the tribe’s two casinos – the Sky Dancer Casino and Resort in Belcourt and the Grand Treasure Casino in Trenton.

Commenting on the partnership, Enrico Drago, the Senior Vice President for PlayDigital, IGT said, “Using IGT’s turnkey PlaySports solution, Maverick Gaming is in a better position to make the most of PlaySport’s value chain while operating a high-quality cross-channel sports wagering platform. We are using all-out experience and expertise gathered from our US operations to help author the success story of Maverick Gaming’s Colorado excursion”.

Colorado Sportsbooks Cross the $210 Million Mark in October 2020

According to the Colorado Department of Revenue’s Gaming Division, casinos and sportsbooks in Colorado collectively attracted over $210 million in wagers during October 2020, up 2% from September. Gross gaming revenue increased by a record 317% since the previous month to $17.4 million.

98% of all wagers arrived from online betting and the figures stand at $206.4 million. The increase in wagers coincided with several sporting events across Colorado with the National Football League being a major attraction. Total bets amounting to $68 million were recorded during the competition while Major League Baseball’s World Series received another $23 million.

A bulk of the revenue arrived from the state’s two major sportsbooks – FanDuel and DraftKings, and according to initial estimates, the two bookies account for over 84% of the total revenue. The figures could rise in the next few months as PointsBet entered the game last month with Penn National’s Barstool-branded app next in line.
